IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CONTINUITY OF EDUCATION AND STUDENT INSTRUCTION

Overview letter from Earl Edwards, Director of Education

Continuity of Education Plan: Cray Education Center

Continuity of Education Plan:Cray Challenges Alternative School

Challenges Alternative Education is a highly structured alternative education program for students, grades 7-12 in Lawrence County who struggle to comply with public school expectations. Cray’s alternative education environment seeks to address challenging educational, emotional, and social circumstances for individual students. Students enrolled at Challenges have been referred by their home school district and this program offers each youth the opportunity to experience classroom and academic success and make positive life changes.

The school’s curriculum caters to the individual needs of the each student and the small class size allows for big strides in learning.  Students are often tutored individually during class.  The curriculum focuses on five  core subjects: Math, History, Science, English and Social Skills as well as providing Physical Education, recreational activities, and study periods as part of the daily schedule.

The Challenges staff are committed to consistent communication with parents or guardians, noting that success is more likely to occur when staff and parents work cooperatively for the betterment of the children.

At Cray Challenges, the atmosphere is of mutual respect and the motto is: “Do what is right, do your best, and treat others the way you want to be treated”.

Cray Education Center is a private academic school that services special education students grades 4-12.  We also serve regular education students grade 4-8. We specialize in the emotional support students.
