BFKS 2017

It’s time again for Bowl for Kids’ Sake (BFKS), benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County (BBBS)!   BFKS  offers everyone in our community a chance to positively impact the life of a child, simply by coming out to have fun and compete with your best bowling team!  Rally your friends, family, and fellow bowlers to make up a team of 4-6 people.  Each team member will be get lunch, a t-shirt, live entertainment, one game of bowling, and the added bonus of helping kids in our community!

Your fundraising efforts to participate in this bowling event can help ‘make life better for kids’.  We’re asking each bowler to commit to raising $50 (minimum).  There will be prizes for top fundraisers and top bowlers.  All money raised goes to support BBBS, a one-on-one mentoring opportunity in Lawrence County for youth who are facing adversity.  Matches made throughout the year have profound impacts on each child who gets the opportunity to connect with a caring mentor.  This is our 23rd annual BFKS event.

**Junior Bowler Fundraising Goal: $10 (ages 12 and under bowling with a parent/guardian)

**WESTMINSTER COLLEGE STUDENT Fundraising Goal: $150 per team

High School Bigs Return to Lawrence County

High School Big Pic s

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County is so excited to bring back High School Bigs! After a year off due to last year’s state budget impasse, we are ready to start offering mentoring opportunities to High School Students ages 15 and up. At our peak, we were serving as many as 30 youth at one time at 3 different sites just in the High School Bigs program. What a huge impact on the community!

Our first site to re-open will be at the Cray Education Center in Neshannock Township, and will involve mentoring children ages 6-13 at the Crossroads after school program. We ask our volunteers to commit to three meetings each month for the duration of the school year. Meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 5-6:30 PM.

To become a high school big, each volunteer must complete an application and have an interview with BBBS staff. There is potential for other sites to re-open as well, so if you want to volunteer but aren’t available on Wednesdays, feel free to give BBBS a call at 724-654-5507 to discuss.
